The SGH-E105 from Samsung is a Tri-band GSM based phone. It weighs a mere 85 gms and is a delight to carry around in the pocket or since its so small & light, easily even in the palm of one's hands. The phone is of folder type with dual displays. The internal is a color LCD of TFT type. It supports 64,000 colors and has a size of 128 x 160 pixels. The second display is in Black & White and is located at the front. The antenna is external (stub type). There are no problems with the reception and even voice clarity is good in most areas. However the newer generation internal antennas are just as good.
So there seems to be no need to inconvenience the users with these external ones which create a problem to carry the phone around. The SGH-E105 also has a large phonebook which allows the user to store 500 contacts in the mobile phone book and this does not include the memory left in the SIM card. Unfortunately again the makers have not thought it fit to include a very basic and useful feature. That is the multiple number per contact entry which allows us to store several numbers for each person. Since every one has so many numbers such as residential, office, mobile and so on; this is one function that everyone uses. In its absence it becomes necessary to create a new entry for each number.
The SGH-E105 also possesses all standard functions such as Calculator, Calendar and an Alarm (which works even when the phone has been switched off). This data capable phone supports downloads (i.e. customization) of both ring tones and graphics. They can be downloaded via WAP or EMS (both are supported by the SGH-E105). The 105 enjoys polyphonic ring tone support. The polyphonic ring tones play at 40 chords There are some games included in the phone, however that is inconsequential since there is support for Java based application. This allows you to simply download your preferred application or game into the phone and use it; delete it when you are done. Though almost all cell phones support J2ME today, there still are examples where this feature has not been included.
Since the 105 has this function it's a definite "plus" for it. Besides these functions this phone also has features such as an Infra Red port to communicate with compatible devices. GPRS which allows wireless data transfer at high speeds has been included as well. Since the phone has a high resolution, 65,000 color screen it supports MMS. However, it enjoys MMS compatibility once more the really cool and to a certain extent quite useful function of Picture-ID has been ignored. The SGH-E105 has been built with multiple languages in it, so the user can choose his own selection from the choices (European languages). There is full compatibility and support for SMS. SMS based functions which are present include the T9 predictive text input technology as well as text templates. There is a To-Do list which is a boon for forgetful people like me who never remember to do their chores and since it is equipped with priorities and dead lines ; believe me it really does the work for you. Wireless Internet based on WAP / GPRS is present.
